Data Methodology

Sources and attribution

We prioritize primary datasets and official statistical publishers. Every ranking should identify its source, link to the source dataset or methodology, and state the metric being compared. A source may revise historic values; published rankings can therefore change after an import.

Observation period and import date

The observation period is the year, month or multi-year window measured by the source. The import date is when GlobalStats.info loaded that dataset. These are different dates and are shown separately when available.

Freshness labels

  • Current: observation no more than 18 months old.
  • Recent: observation 19 to 36 months old.
  • Historical: observation older than 36 months.

A newer import of an old observation remains historical. We do not relabel it as current simply because it was imported recently.

Country coverage and rankings

Rankings include only countries and territories with a positive, valid value for the displayed measure. Aggregates such as regions, income groups and world totals are excluded where the page compares countries. Each country uses its latest available observation, so the data years in one table can differ.

Interpretation

International datasets may use different definitions, collection methods, purchasing-power adjustments or modeled estimates. A ranking is a comparison within the stated dataset; it should not be treated as a complete measure of a country's wellbeing, opportunity or policy performance.
